Unique Gift Ideas: What I’m Dying To Give Now

I’m usually prompted to source new gift ideas because I am shopping for an event or occasion. Recently fantastical ideas have just surfaced unsolicited by way of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (gotta love social media) and old-fashioned word-of-mouth in a lovely happenstance kind of fashion.  So these are some AH-MAY-ZING looking tokens that I am dying to find the right occasion for–and I already have a few in mind–so I just had to share, and pay that good-gifting-kharma forward. Enjoy!

Please Welcome box wrapped and tied with string

Please Welcome: I’m a sucker for great food and great narratives and PleaseWelcome.us brings together both in one lovely box (quite literally) every month.  In their words: “Please Welcome is dedicated to bringing great food and great stories together, wrapped in brown paper and tied up in string.”  Genius.  The voice is a cross between BuzzFeed and Bon Appetit and reminds me of the hip and savvy older cousin you wish you had but never did… case and point: when an editorial team can make an FAQ interesting and fun to read all I can say is, kudos.
Zady: Socially responsible shopping and gifting is not exclusive to epicurean goods.  As a sucker for a great story, Zady provides the purchaser with the unique story behind every carefully selected item they sell.  Furthermore, they have partnered with The Bootstrap Project to help artisans support their traditions and culture.  Oh, and their stuff is GORGEOUS. Again, in their own words: “Zady is about connecting readers to a story, protecting heritage craftsmanship and bringing prosperity to the designers and creators who deserve it most.” They have items for the home, women and men, but my personal favorite is that they have a gift section which really was a nice choice of unique and beautiful items (not easy to find).

For the Health Conscious Recipient

Bulu Box

Bulu Box

Bulu Box: I like gifts that are little reminders IF they are really going to be used (I love salsa, but salsa of the month club wouldn’t be right for everyone). For someone you know is really into health, nutrition and weight loss, a gift to Bulu Box might be their nirvana–it’s like a fitness-flavor of BirchBox.  Every month, they try all kinds of healthy, premium loveliness and there are a number of monthly options to pick from.

NatureBox Snacks

Nature Snacks: If you recipient is more of a nosher, a gift membership to Nature Snacks might be a better option.  Their snacks are nutritionist approved and they too work with a socially responsible partner, WhyHunger, so you can feel good about your purchase and your recipient can snack “guilt-free.” Sounds like a win-win to me!

For the Recipient Who Likes To Be Entertained While Grooming

Dollar Shave Club: This was brought up many times over dinner Labor Day weekend, so I had to check it out, and I’m so glad I did.  I won’t say anything else because you MUST watch this video, but go here to buy a gift, you’ll want to…just make sure you send your recipient the video too.
